Evaluate JustIn-Time Scheduler

Think that the scheduling rules and policies for your group of physicians and mid-level providers are challenging?

Below are some sample rules that we have implemented for our customers using JustInTime Physician Scheduler. The flexibility in JustInTime Scheduler maybe more than you need to meet your requirements, but it's useful to know that JustIntime can adapt if your scheduling policies change over time.

  • Do not schedule anyone belonging to group X for more than Y times a month for weekend calls.

  • Provider doing early call on Friday does late call on Saturday , provider doing late call on Friday does Saturday early call unless that provider is Dr. Jones or Dr. Smith, in which case provider doing early call on Friday also does early call on Saturday and provider doing late call does Saturday call.
  • Person doing rotation X does that for the whole week.
  • All physicians work day shifts with a pattern of five days on followed by two to three days off.
  • Assignment to shifts must follow the circadian rhythm. Exceptions should be made to individual X or group Y who prefer an althernate rhythm.

  • Dr. Jones prefers to be on primary call the first Thursday of every month.

  • Do not schedule Dr. Jones for more than X times for 7p-11pm shifts during any period consisting of Y days.

  • Do not schedule anyone belonging to group 'Senior Staff' more than X times for any assignments during any period consisting of Y days.

  • If no regular provider is available (because of day off, vacation, or worked previous weekend on call), schedule a contract provider or a moonlighter.

  • Schedule all providers belonging to group X in blocks of approximately Y days. Vacations and other preferences may override this requirement.

  • Dr. Jones and Dr. Smith alternate on Thursday call unless one of them is on vacation in which case, Dr. Johnson does the Thursday shift.

  • If a provider works on a weekend shift, do not schedule that provider for the following two weekends.

  • No back-to-back calls on Monday thru Friday.

  • If a provider works on a late shift, do not schedule that provider for early shift the next morning.

  • Do not schedule any provider more than once a week.

  • Providers who work during OR prefer to work with different provider every week.

  • Schedule Dr. Jones whenever Dr. Smith is scheduled.

  • Do not schedule Dr. Jones whenever Dr. Smith is scheduled.

  • Dr. Smith is a part-time provider and only takes 40% of the calls.

  • Try to put equal spacing in days between noxious shifts for all providers.

  • Schedule someone for OB Call on the following dates only: 07/03/2003, 08/04/2003,....

  • Providers prefer to work X consecutive days during day shifts (and not night shifts) unless that staff is Dr. Jones or Dr. Smith.

  • Prefer to have to have at least one physician in the office on Thursdays if NP has a day off.

  • Prefer to have at least two people schedule in the building 101 on Fridays.

  • Dr. Jones prefers to work the second Monday of every month unless Dr. Jones was scheduled for the preceding weekend or unless Dr. Jones is on vacation or unless Dr. Jones had a late shift previous day.
